English as a Second Language (ESL)
Classes in English as a Second Language (ESL) offer instruction and practice in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in English.
​
We teach citizenship skills in all our ESL classes, but we also offer specific classes to prepare students to pass the USCIS Citizenship Test.

ABOUT
Collin Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) is a Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) funded program. We are proud to serve Collin County with English as a Second Language, High School Equivalency, and Career Pathway classes that give students a bridge to higher education. We operate year-round and enroll students weekly. Collin AEL prepares adults for higher-level academic instruction and/or skills training that leads to employment and self-sufficiency.

GET STARTED
FREE Adult Education courses with Collin AEL are available to assist students achieve their goals in three main areas: ​

Obtain a GED and/or enhance basic skills like reading and math. We can also help students prepare for the ASVAB or TSI tests.
​
Increase English proficiency to continue an education or improve employment options.
​
Pass citizenship exams.

Step 2: Attend the enrollment appointment
During the enrollment appointment you will:

Provide some basic personal information

Confirm your identity with an ID issued by any government

Complete assessments to assist us in placing you in the right class and to measure your success

For those between the ages of sixteen and eighteen, additional items are required. Call for more information
Step 3: Receive your class schedule
Your instructor will contact you to share details about the class including:
